Spring is very strange for a Canadian in Mexico. All winter we have been living here. Gone are the snow shovelling, scraping windshields and fighting with the kids to wear the right snow gear. My husband loves missing winter. Me I kinda miss it. The peaceful white winter landscape was always so beautiful to me, especially when I started running outside in it. Yes, when it was very cold I enjoyed the views from my window but still I kinda missed it. I really miss the change of seasons. Here we are living in an eternal summer. Now, if I do not have the energy to run before 8-9 am it is to hot to run until 8-9 at night. And with that, the excitement of wanting for everything to turn green and start to blossom. Here, the trees seem to just decide one day to lose all their leafs and start growing new ones next week. A street that you always drive on everyday, suddenly one morning, greets you with amazing colours, yellow, orange and pink. then just as fast, in a couple of days, all the colour lands on the ground. Sporadic beauty vanished.
This tree I never even seen before even though I drive by it every day to take the kids to school. But one early morning there was this amazing tree in the field. Where did that come from? For two days I kept wanting to stop and take a picture. Well, that road is pretty busy and full of Mexican traffic, so I was a little worried to stop on the side of the road. I ended up doing a drive by picture taking as I drove with my phone. Safety aside, I really liked the picture and decided to us it to do my very first oil painting with it. The very next morning, on my way to school, the tree lost all its flowers. Now it is back to its invisibility among the green field it lives in.
